What we're looking for
The Operations Team at Smartex plays a key role in bringing our technology to life in textile factories around the world. They design and deploy installation solutions that ensure our hardware integrates seamlessly into diverse industrial environments. We are a hands-on, mission-driven, and globally minded team, committed to transforming the textile industry through innovation, reliability, and collaboration.
We are looking for a Mechanical Field Engineer who is both creative and pragmatic, capable of designing robust mechanical solutions while working directly with customers and partners. This role blends mechanical design, on-site installation support, and continuous improvement of our systems. You’ll work closely with engineering teams and travel frequently to customer facilities worldwide to ensure successful deployments and high-quality installations.
Responsibilities
- Design custom mechanical parts and installation solutions;
- Survey and collect technical requirements both on-site and remotely;
- Travel to customer locations in Portugal, Turkey, Bangladesh, India, and more (around 50% travel);
- Read, write, and interpret technical documentation;
- Produce documentation for assembly, installation, and operation;
- Source components and build prototypes;
- Conceptualize, execute, and evaluate prototype tests.
- Design custom mechanical parts and installation solutions;
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design;
- Proficiency in SolidWorks;
- Familiarity with CAD tools beyond SolidWorks is appreciated;
- Ability to create and interpret technical documentation;
- Experience with manufacturing processes, prototyping and reverse engineering;
- Experience working with electrical components is appreciated;
- Availability to travel frequently;
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Portuguese fluency preferred;
- Fast learner with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach.
