What we're looking for
At Smartex, we're dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions to the textile industry, combining innovation with sustainability. As we scale our global operations, we are looking for a highly organized and experienced Import & Export Specialist to join our team and oversee the efficient shipment of our products both within Portugal and across EU and non-EU countries.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in international trade logistics, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working collaboratively with multiple departments, external partners, and customers across the globe.
Responsibilities

Freight Coordination: Arrange and manage freight bookings for outbound shipments to EU and non-EU countries (e.g., Turkey, Bangladesh, India Brazil, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Morocco, etc.).
- Documentation Management: Prepare and process all relevant shipping documents and permits according to international trade regulations and Incoterms agreed with customers.
- Shipment Tracking:Track export and import shipments and proactively update all relevant stakeholders (customers, distributors, internal teams) on the status and any potential delays or issues.
- Efficiency & Compliance: Ensure that all Smartex international shipping activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with global logistics best practices, minimizing time and cost.

- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Service Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, and other internal departments to align logistics strategies and provide support.
- Time Zone Agility: Engage with our global sales and operations teams, adapting to different time zones when needed.
Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business, Economics, or a related field.

+4 years of experience in import and export operations, with solid hands-on knowledge of international trade.
- Experience in handling ERPs / management softwares.

Proven ability to prepare accurate and compliant shipping documentation.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Comfortable assessing risk and taking initiative when necessary.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Customer-oriented and results-driven mindset.

Fluent in English and Portuguese. Bonus points for Turkish or other language skills.
- Experience in the textile or manufacturing sector is a strong plus.
