What we're looking for
The Field Engineering team at Smartex is responsible for deploying and validating AI-powered textile inspection systems in real industrial environments. We are looking for a highly motivated Summer Intern to support the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new systems integrated into textile inspection machines. You will work closely with experienced engineers on real-world deployments, helping improve installation processes, system reliability, and operational efficiency across factory environments.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation and commissioning of systems in real industrial environments.
- Assist with system calibration and validation during field deployments.
- Collect and organize field data, observations, and deployment feedback.
- Document installation issues, constraints, and best practices.
- Help improve installation and deployment procedures for future rollouts.
- Analyse system behaviour and real-world operational variability.
- Collaborate with field engineers and cross-functional teams during deployments.
- Contribute to the identification of process optimization opportunities.
Skills & Experience
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in industrial systems, field engineering, and hands-on technical work.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in real-world industrial environments.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Comfortable working in factory and on-site deployment settings.
- Good organizational and documentation skills.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
