The Software Team at Smartex is dedicated to building innovative technology for the textile industry. We are a diverse, international, and mission-driven company, focused on creating solutions that have a real impact on both our customers and the planet. We are looking for a highly motivated Software Development Intern (Master’s Thesis) to join our team and contribute to the development of impactful software solutions. In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers, tackling real-world challenges and helping to shape products used in industrial environments. If you are passionate about software development, data-driven systems, and building meaningful technology, this is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Research color science in textile manufacturing, including CIE L*a*b* space, Delta E metrics, and industry standards for color evaluation.

  • Analyze challenges in textile dyeing consistency, such as batch, side-to-side, and end-to-end variability.

  • Study and benchmark visualization approaches for color data and quality assessment in industrial contexts.

  • Design and develop a modular visualization and decision-support framework for color quality data within Smartex’s platform.

  • Implement interactive dashboards and features for traceability, anomaly detection, and quality assessment (e.g., pass/fail indicators, trend analysis, tolerance thresholds).

  • Collaborate with production teams to validate the solution in a real industrial environment.

  • Define and apply evaluation metrics to assess system performance and usability improvements.

  • Document findings, system design, and results for both industrial and academic purposes.

Skills & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Solid foundations in software development (preferably ...., or similar).

  • Basic understanding of data visualization concepts and/or frontend data-driven applications.

  • Familiarity with APIs and data integration in full-stack or backend contexts.

  • Interest in data analysis, industrial systems, or manufacturing applications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex, real-world datasets.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

  • Good communication skills in English.
